I Missed Out on an Important Developmental Stage

You know when you've been at an all girls school to long when...
  • You're puzzled as to why boys talk about cars so much
  • You're slightly shocked as to the topics of guy's conversation
  • You're pretty sure you have no idea how to flirt but whatever you're doing seems to work anyway, although you're not sure if that's a good thing.

I'm fairly sure most of my readers are going/have been to co-ed schools, so I'm wondering if any of the above points apply to you or you just used to it because you've had to work with guys for most of your life. Or you know someone who went to a single sex school and has recently moved to a co-educational environment and is experiencing the same symptoms. Comment! =P

I feel like I should be back in year 9 again being all excited about the Trinity boys coming for ballroom dancing lessons, which is something I never felt at the time. I MISSED OUT ON AN IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENT STAGE. Now I have to learn quickly, to catch up. Don't get me wrong I loved going to an all girls school, the atmosphere was pretty much made of awesome most of the time and if I have children and get the opportunity to send them to single sex schools, I probably will. But I think it's also important to have a social life/opportunity to mix with the opposite sex, which I never had because of many factors. So now, with a lot of my new friends being guys it's all a bit new. I do still think they're all awesome though, the girls too.

This little insight was brought on by my weekend escapades, which were all fun. Even work was ok, mainly because one of the guys decided he'd bring in a CD containing the songs of various boy bands and play them while he and another guy worked in the kitchen, so I got to listen to two 18-20ish year-old guys sing along to the Backstreet Boys with unrestrained enthusiasm.

Merging Email Accounts is not fun

Today I decided that I use the feature on Hotmail that gets it to send emails that are sent to other email accounts (such as gmail, yahoo etc.) to your hotmail as I thought this would be more convient then having to check my gmail all the time. Now, I could choose one of two options, the first being that I could have all my gmail email messages sent directly to my hotmail inbox with just a different mail symbol to show that they are from a different account OR I could have them sent to a different folder. For some reason, I chose the former. Why I did this I don't know. Because OBVIOUSLY they would send all my all ready read gmail messages to my hotmail inbox creating unneccessary unread messages and OBVIOUSLY these messages would still be ordered by date with all the other original hotmail messages making them hard to find amongst some 3000 messages to mark as read. This resulted in me having over 100 unread messages and no clue on where they were amongst the 44 pages of emails I had in my inbox. Sigh.

End Rant.

Boredom comes in many forms

Hello everyone, this is my first post-BEDA blog! I forsee that I shall be posting a lot more often at this particular point in time because I need something to do. I am back at school, but I dropped one subject because I didn't like it, the class was too large and I realised I need a grand total of three extra scaled marks so I thought I could achieve that with two subjects. Both subjects I'm doing are fairly easy mainly because I have covered most of the material before and the maths I'm doing is quite easy anyway. In fact, I have difficulty controlling my laughter when the teacher refers to anything that is supposed to be "hard". Though I know that'll come back and bite me in the ass if I don't get a good mark on the test. As a result I've been able to finish all and more of the perscribed work in class time resulting in negative amounts of homework. Which is good, I think.

I also have decided that I'm going to apply for second semester entry into the course I want to do at university even though I haven't quite got the right marks (I'm lacking 3 marks! 3!!!) and hope that a) they had A LOT of drop outs b) no one is applying for 2nd semester entry c) that they'll be nice. I doubt it'll come to anything but it's not like I have anything to lose.

At the moment there are builders at my house re-varnishing and sealing the wooden window frames, which is slightly annoying because they're in the part of the house I want to use.

Last Day of BEDA

It's the last day of BEDA, actually here it's already the first of May but because this blog posts in a timezone that is not my own it will come up as the 30th of April. Before I go into the meaty part of this blog I'm obliged to say something about the whole BEDA experience. First of all; it was I who introduced the idea to the MOFFIA forums encouraging others to do the same, a few people took up the challenge and more promised to read our blogs. From what I've seen it's been pretty successful in the MOFFIA circle, everyone who started blogging (even if they hadn't blogged before) kept posting. Even if it was only once every two or three days. Also, after reading Lindsay's blog for yesterday I was pleased to see she'll continue blogging after BEDA and I hope more people to the same. I have vowed that I will post more regularly than I have been before BEDA, so keep reading! Bloggings a great way to communicate what you've been doing in your life to others especially when you don't have the time or patience to read and post on the forums or you don't want all your friends to see on Facebook. You can write whenever you want, about anything you want on a blog.

Enough about BEDA.

Yesterday, Gerarda and I went to see one of our friends, friends band play they were fairly good. If not incredibly daggy looking on stage but ok musically, the only problem was they were the second band to play and the first band was a heavy metal band and I'm not into heavy metal in any sense. I've always figured there's something I just don't "get" about it because some people love it. But all I hear is loud noise and screaming. The other thing that irked me was that Gerarda and I were asked to show ID to get in, but none of our friends were. I guess I don't look 18, but it's irksome anyway. After my friends friends band had played we went to a resturant where our other friend was working and had pizza and free drinks. All in all it was a pretty good night.

School is really, really, really, pissing me off right now. Hence the fact I am not going today.
