"There's Hommus on the Walls," "I understand."

I accidently posted this blog with just the title. Ooops. I don't know if that confused anyone but sorry if it did. I guess the title may need a bit of explaining, the main reason I used it for a title for this blog was because I had it written as a tag in my last blog post but unfortunately unbeknowns to me blogger puts the tags in alphabetical order and so it was the wrong way around. Using it as my title for this post fixed this, so we can all bask in it's wonderful esoteric.

Now are you confused? Good.

On to the mundane, today I'm shredding paper. A lot of paper. This is what I get paid for. The only really crappy thing about it that a lot of paper fibre dust or whatever and it's annoying my nose and throat. This is my last week I have school free as of tomorrow week I start school again. It's so awkward telling people what I'm up to this year. I generally don't mention the going-back-to-school thing to all the people I've only just sorta met because it's too annoying to explain. At least when I get back to school, no one there will be asking me these questions.

Facebook quizzes and mid-semester break

Marzieh pointed out to me this morning that I hadn't posted a blog for 5 days. 5 days! Which is terrible, especially since I started this whole thing and encouraged you all to blog too. I assure you that I have been reading, daily, all the blogs on my blog list. Before I get on with the main part of this blog, I just want to say thanks to Lindsay who converted a youtube video to mp3 for Gerarda and I, so we can listen to the song on our ipod.

I have been fairly busy this week as it is mid-semester break for all the uni's here, which means a lot of partying and good times. Some people had basically five or six days of straight partying, sleeping during the day (or turning up to work hungover) and going out at night. I myself am not enough of a social butterfly to be able to do this and I only ended up going to two parties which was still pretty awesome.

Normally, I wouldn't bother doing those stupid quizzes that facebook has introduced (you know like, Which facist dictator are you? and What alcoholic beverage are you most like?) But it reached my notice that there was a Harry Potter related one, to do with what House you're in. I got Gryffindor, of course. This was mainly because I know enough about Harry Potter to realise what characteristics are associated for each house I knew that the particular ones I choose were going to be for Gryffindor. Never mind that the whole thing is slightly redundant because the questions were all to do with casting spells which of course I can't do, so technically couldn't be in any Hogwarts House.

What else can I say? Work has been pretty good. I learnt how to use the till the other day, which is all very high tech and has all the possible things people can order at the click of a button. It's just finding what catergory the item is in is the hard part -
"Is the Florentine in confectionery or cakes?" "wtf is a Florentine?" "Oh it's a biscuit"
Oh well the customers were really patient which was good. I was quick with the change though. =P

I hope you enjoyed reading my revived BEDA. I hope to be a bit more frequent-posting this next few days.

I got a naughtical themed pashmina afghan

If you read Gerarda's blog (link in the blog list), she already mention that we are going to a party with this -->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QwM4vXex7c as the theme (warning: the video contains a lot of "colourful metaphors"). And if you haven't already read Gerarda's blog, no, they are not serious. The party is on Tuesday at one of my friends house, who has previously been mentioned in this blog, and so hopefully it'll be fun although it is likely that there are going to be a sizeable amount of people, which will definitley be interesting. I am also going to a party on Wednesday night which will have a similar amount of people attending. So that will hopefully be fun too.

The problem I seem to be having at the moment is that I am spending too much money because I had to buy work shoes and jeans and phone credit and prefume. Sigh. Now I have to buy more credit and put more money on my SmartRider so I can catch public transport. Grrr... I'm a poor.. psuedo uni student? At the same time to be earning (and spending) my own money makes me feel like an adult, it's not bad exactly just takes some time getting used to. Plus I have to save for Infinitus! However, parties, especially themed ones, are not great for budgeting because you have to see if you've got anything that fits with the theme (which I don't in this case) then you have to decide if you are going to take any alcohol which requires more monies.

Despite all this I'm glad to be getting invited to parties and gatherings and getting to see new friends and old ones.

That Awkward Saturday

Today is that Saturday before Easter Sunday at least for those who celebrate Easter this weekend. I know some Christian faiths may have a different Easter date and of course, non-Christian religions don't celebrate Easter at all. But this is not going to be a religion-orientated blog.

No, I'm more concerned for today, that is Saturday. Nothing notable happened today, it's just the space between Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Therefore, there is no public holiday today, just one on either side of it. It's just kind of... awkward.

I'm not a religious person anymore, there was a time when I went to church with my mother as a matter of routine and it was weird when I missed a Sunday, whether or not that was because of my devotion to the religion or just because I was young and used to it. Since leaving a Catholic school, I pay little attention to the events in the Church calender and generally don't attend Church. In fact, this particular conversation between mum and me highlights this:

Mum: "I'd like you to come to Church on Sunday."
Me: "Why?"
Mum: "Because it's Easter Sunday."
Me: "Oh.."

I actually had no idea that we were that near Easter. I clearly haven't been paying attention and the shops start selling Easter stuff after Valentines day. So how is someone who is completely based in the secular world, who doesn't go to an institution or work place that has normal public holidays, supposed to know what date Easter Sunday is?

Well, that's about it for today. I did add a blog list to this blog as I'm sure you're already noticed. All the BEDA Moffia crew (that I'm aware of) are on there. Plus I may put on some other blogs that I enjoy reading. If you think you should be on my list but aren't, leave a comment.

Excuses, Excuses

I know I haven't been blogging. Bad me. There may or may not be proper reasons for this lack of blogging, mainly I have just definitley NOT been in the mood to blog.

It's Good Friday today, so I haven't been doing much, just hanging out at home and trying to convince Gerarda to get me invited to a gathering that she is going to tonight (which is totally socially acceptable btw, because I know a few of the people going plus I am otherwise not engaged tonight). But she won't even ask. Therefore I am condemned to spend the night at home by myself. So this morning I was feeling very depressed and socially isolated, which is very easy to feel when you don't go to uni, have to repeat yr 12 and are ignored by your highschool friends. But then I felt better when I was randomly invited to the Science Camp Reunion, for no apparent reason because I am not part of the Science Union, didn't go to Science camp and don't go to uni. That made me laugh a bit and helped me feel slightly better.

Gerarda will probably be angry at me saying this but hey, she's going to the gathering and I'm not.

Work Shoes

As you know, if you have been reading my other blog posts, I have started another job and yesterday I went to go buy some black work shoes because I didn't have any suitable. Well, I went to a few shoe shops first and didn't have anything suitable so I decided to just go to Target and buy some black Dunlop volleys because they're cheap and everybody has them so I figured that they were a pretty good shoe. So I went in and tried them and alothough they weren't perfectly fitting I though for $30 they were ok and since I rarely get a pair of shoes for under $90 I was quite pleased. I bought them and then decided to go to Sportsgirl to see if they had a black cardigan that I need for winter, which they didn't but what they DID have was a pair of perfect work shoes for $30, I was torn, because they were slightly better fitting and a lot more attractive aesthetically (Dunlop volleys are really ugly especially if they're black you have narrow feet like me). However, it meant that I would have to return the dunlops to target. After a like a few seconds of thought I decided I'd rather have the pretty shoes and take the other ones back to Target. Which I will have to do today.

I hope that didn't bore you to much. I have one more blog post to catch up on today so that I'm up to date, which I think will be more interesting so keep reading! And let me know what you think of Dunlop Volleys or if you even have them where you live.
